Tax Reform Challenge for Students 2025: How Nigerian Students Can Win Up to ₦5 Million
The Tax Reform Challenge for Students is a nationwide competition created for young Nigerians to learn about Nigeria’s new tax laws and share their ideas in simple and creative ways.
This programme is organised by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, and it gives students the chance to learn, speak up, win cash prizes, and become national youth ambassadors.

The Students Tax Reform Challenge is a contest where Nigerian students create content that explains, discusses, or even questions Nigeria’s new tax reform laws.

Who Can Apply?
You can apply if you are:
An undergraduate student in a Nigerian university, polytechnic, or college of education
A graduate currently doing NYSC
A graduate waiting for NYSC mobilisation

Or through your school’s tax club, economics association, accounting group, or journalism association

What You Need to Submit (Entry Requirements)
Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Choose Your Language
You can submit your work in:
English
Pidgin
Hausa
Igbo
Yoruba
👉 If you use a local language, you must also submit an English translation.
Step 2: Create Your Content
Your content must:
Talk about Nigeria’s tax reform
Be educational and easy to understand
Be fact-based
Be creative and engaging
⚠️ You are allowed to criticise the tax reform, as long as your points are fair and factual.
Step 3: Follow Content Rules
Videos or podcasts must not be longer than 10 minutes
Content must have been published between 1 July and 31 December 2025

Judges will look at:
Objectivity & balance – Is your work fair and not propaganda?
Correct information – Are your facts accurate?
Public engagement – Is it easy for ordinary people to understand?
Impact & reach – Did people view, share, or discuss your content?
Competition Stages Explained Simply
Stage 1: Online Screening
All students take an online test on basic tax reform knowledge
The best male and female student from each school move to the next stage
Submitted content is also reviewed
Stage 2: Zonal Competition
Students discuss assigned topics before experts
Winners are chosen from each geopolitical zone
One male and one female winner qualify per zone
Stage 3: National Finals
Finalists compete at a live national event
The event will be shown on TV, radio, and online platforms
Judges select the final winners
